Fine&Far guide service provides a unique opportunity to explore the beauty of California's Redwood Coast while searching for both summer and winter run steelhead on the swing. The rivers we fish include the Eel River, Smith River, Klamath River and Trinity River among others.
All trips are spey only. Fine&Far guide service strives to emphasize best practices in the field and on the water. Steelhead are the primary focus during both the fall and winter seasons. These vaunted sea run trout have lured fly fishermen to journey north since the Irish immigrant John Benn first came to the Eel River by way of San Francisco in the 1880's. To this day they remain one of the ultimate prizes for anglers worldwide. Here on California's North-Coast we have the unique opportunity to target them amongst some of the last old growth stands of Redwood left. There is nothing else like it.
Trips: Walk/wade and float trips are available for up to two anglers. Float trips are done out of a 14ft guide raft.
Trinity River Steelhead: 600.00 per trip for up to two anglers
Coastal Winter Steelhead: 650.00 per trip for up to two angler
What is provided: All terminal tackle; including lines, tips, leaders, rods and reels. All flies are provided and are custom tied. Lunch and drinks will be provided for refreshments throughout the day.
What you need: A valid California fishing license along with either a steelhead or salmon report card. Waders and wading boots. Appropriate clothing for cold and wet weather. During a float trip it might be necessary to run a shuttle using your vehicle.
